Voting Begins in Makwanpur for February 21 Elections

Makwanpur. Voting has started in Makwanpur for the elections scheduled for February 21. Voting began at 7 AM in 2 constituencies of Makwanpur.

For the election, 167 polling stations and 374 voting centers have been designated in 102 wards across Makwanpur district. There are a total of 315,334 voters in the district, and two temporary polling stations have been set up in Makwanpur. There is one polling station each at Bhimphedi Jail and the District Administration Office, Makwanpur. There are 995 inmates, both male and female, at Bhimphedi Jail. However, only 75 names are on the voter list. Among them, 3 are female voters and 72 are male voters. The names of the remaining inmates are not included in the voter list.

Excluding the temporary polling centers, there are 167 polling stations in Makwanpur. Out of these, 19 polling stations have been listed as highly sensitive from a security perspective. The District Security Committee meeting placed polling stations in 6 local levels out of the 10 local levels in the district on the highly sensitive list based on security sensitivity.

Out of the 167 polling stations across the district, 19 have been categorized as highly sensitive, 60 as sensitive, and 88 as normal. The highly sensitive list includes 26 voting centers.

The District Security Committee Makwanpur has listed the following areas as highly sensitive: Bakaiya Rural Municipality with 5 polling stations and 7 voting centers; Raksirang Rural Municipality with 6 polling stations and 6 voting centers; Bagmati Rural Municipality with 5 polling stations and 6 voting centers; Bhimphedi Rural Municipality with 1 polling station and 3 voting centers; Manahari Rural Municipality with 1 polling station and 3 voting centers; and Kailash Rural Municipality with 1 polling station and 1 voting center.

Similarly, 60 polling stations and 123 voting centers in the district have been placed on the sensitive list. Sensitive polling stations include 7 polling stations and 31 voting centers in Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City, 9 polling stations and 17 voting centers in Thaha Municipality, 13 polling stations and 17 voting centers in Raksirang Rural Municipality, 8 polling stations and 15 voting centers in Bakaiya Rural Municipality, and 7 polling stations and 17 voting centers in Bagmati Rural Municipality.

Furthermore, 4 polling stations and 7 voting centers in Makwanpurgadhi Rural Municipality, 2 polling stations and 2 voting centers in Indrasarobar Rural Municipality, 4 polling stations and 4 voting centers in Bhimphedi Rural Municipality, 3 polling stations and 5 voting centers in Kailash Rural Municipality, and 3 polling stations and 8 voting centers in Manahari Rural Municipality have also been placed on the sensitive list. Makwanpur has 374 voting centers across 167 polling stations.

Makwanpur-1 constituency has 62 polling stations and 178 voting centers. The number of voters is 158,434. Similarly, Makwanpur-2 constituency has 105 polling stations and 196 voting centers. The number of voters is 156,899. Makwanpur, which has 2 constituencies, has a total of 315,334 voters.
