Maoist Party Leaders Arrested in Morang for Election Boycott Activities

Police have arrested the Morang district in-charge and district secretary of the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) on charges of involvement in an election boycott campaign.

According to information provided by the District Police Office, Morang, those arrested are 56-year-old Krishna Prasad Chamlagai (District In-charge), a resident of Sundarharaicha Municipality-10, and 37-year-old Suman Paudel (District Secretary), a resident of Damak Municipality-5, Jhapa.

A police team deployed from the Area Police Office, Pathari apprehended them today at approximately 4:30 PM from Buddha Chowk in Kanepokhari Rural Municipality-6, Morang.

Police suspect that the arrested individuals may also have been involved in placing a fake bomb found north of the East-West Highway in Sundarharaicha-10 at around 12:15 PM today.

Morang Police Information Officer and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Harinandana Chaudhary informed that further investigation is underway regarding the incident involving the arrested individuals.
