Election Commission Urges Voters to Participate in Upcoming By-elections for House of Representatives

Kathmandu. The Election Commission has made a special appeal to the general voters to exercise their right to vote with confidence in the by-election for the members of the House of Representatives scheduled for Thursday, Falgun 21. Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari, along with Commissioners Dr. Janaki Kumari Tuladhar and Sagun Shamsher JB Rana, issued separate messages calling for 100% voting to make the election successful. 

Acting Chief Election Commissioner Bhandari expressed confidence that this election will further strengthen and mature Nepal's constitution and federal democratic system. He clarified that the Commission is fully prepared to conduct this snap election, which is taking place after the adverse situation developed last Bhadra, in a free, fair, and fear-free environment.

Election Commissioner Dr. Tuladhar mentioned that voting is mandatory for selecting good representatives and urged people to reach the polling centers on time. Stating that all stakeholders have an equal responsibility to make the election economical and trustworthy, she appealed to political parties, security agencies, and staff for cooperation. Election Commissioner JB Rana urged voters to go to the polling centers without being 'lazy' and to use their voting rights 100 percent.

He requested that a peaceful environment be maintained during the election period, without quarrels and mutual accusations. He stated that voting is indispensable to select capable candidates and give the country the right direction. The Commission has informed that all preparations related to election operation and management have reached the final stage and security arrangements have been tightened. Stating that elections are the foundation of a representative governance system, the Commission has called upon voters not to be influenced by any undesirable activities and to use their own judgment.
