Rupandehi Police Detain 11 for Violating Liquor Sales Ban Ahead of Elections

Bhairahawa. Rupandehi police have taken 11 individuals into custody for allegedly violating the prohibition on the sale and distribution of liquor, aimed at ensuring the House of Representatives election is conducted in a clean, impartial, and peaceful environment free from fear.

According to District Police Office Information Officer Krishna Kumar Chand, during inspections conducted until Tuesday night, four liquor shops were sealed in various locations across the district, and 11 people involved in the sale, distribution, and transportation of liquor were arrested.

The police stated that nine people, including the operator, were taken into custody from a restaurant at Buddha Chowk, Siddharthanagar Municipality-6. Information Officer Chand further reported that 110 bottles of liquor labeled 'Dami' and 'Isk' were recovered from a liquor shop at Gonaaha Chowk in Mayadevi Rural Municipality-5.

Police also reported taking two operators into custody from restaurants in Bhagalpur of Shuddhodhan Rural Municipality-7 and Siabhar of Ward No. 3. The concerned shops were sealed after liquor transactions were found to have occurred during the prohibited period. Information Officer Chand informed that special teams have been mobilized across the district to strictly monitor liquor control.

The local administration has announced a complete ban on the sale and distribution of all types of alcoholic beverages and their consumption in public places throughout the election period. Police have warned that individuals violating the prohibition order will be prosecuted according to prevailing laws.

Stating that individuals involved in activities contrary to the election code of conduct are under continuous surveillance, the police announced that necessary steps will be vigorously advanced to ensure the election is conducted peacefully.
