Middle East Tensions Escalate as Iran-Israel Conflict Reignites After Brief Calm

Jerusalem. Military tension between Iran, Israel, and the United States has now taken the form of a major war. The Middle East, which appeared calm after the 12-day war in June 2025, has become turbulent again.

Since Israel and the US began imposing restrictive air strikes on Iran starting February 28, Iran and its allied groups have launched large-scale retaliatory attacks.

Iran has launched hundreds of ballistic missiles and drones, targeting key population centers and military bases in Israel. As a result of this attack, at least 9 people were killed when a missile directly struck a residential building and a synagogue in the Israeli city of Beit Shemesh. This attack, which occurred on March 1, is considered the deadliest strike of the current war.

Sirens are continuously sounding in major Israeli cities like Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Haifa, and Eilat, with scenes of missiles being intercepted in the sky being witnessed. Reports have also emerged of missiles falling near Israel's main international airport, Ben Gurion, which has completely affected air traffic.

Iran has not limited its attacks to Israel alone but has also expanded them to US assets and allied nations in the Gulf region. This has given the conflict a regional dimension. Although the US and Israel stated they launched attacks to destroy Iran's nuclear capabilities, Iran's strong reaction has made the situation even more dire.
