Nepali Army Clarifies Security Role for Upcoming House of Representatives Election

Kathmandu. The Nepali Army has clarified its security responsibilities for the House of Representatives election scheduled for Falgun 21. In a statement issued on Sunday, the Army announced that it will provide the third layer of security during the election and will safely transport ballot boxes to the counting centers after voting concludes.

The press release issued by the Public Relations and Information Directorate at the Army Headquarters mentioned that all activities related to election security management are being conducted in accordance with the "House of Representatives Election Act-2074" and the "House of Representatives Election Integrated Security Plan-2082."

According to the statement, ballot boxes will be transported following established protocols after the conclusion of voting, just as in previous elections. An integrated team comprising the Nepal Police, Armed Police Force Nepal, Election Officer, designated representatives of political parties, and the Nepali Army will be responsible for safely delivering the ballot boxes to the counting centers.

The Nepali Army recalled that it has been playing a significant role in election security since the House of Representatives election of B.S. 2048.

The Nepali Army clarified that it is fully committed to ensuring the upcoming election is conducted safely and without fear, in accordance with the integrated security plan, in coordination and cooperation with all concerned bodies.
