UN Security Council Convenes Emergency Meeting Amid Escalating Israel-Iran Conflict

Kathmandu. Immediately following the outbreak of war between Israel and Iran, the United Nations has called an emergency meeting of the Security Council. The UN called the emergency session on Saturday.

International media outlets reported that the meeting was called at the request of Bahrain, Colombia, China, Russia, and France. Furthermore, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has criticized the military action in the Middle East.

He issued a statement indicating that such actions have undermined international peace and security, calling for an immediate cessation of hostilities. Tensions in the Middle East began after the United States and Israel launched attacks against Iran.

Following the attacks by the US and Israel on Saturday, Iran also began attacking American military bases located in various countries across the Middle East.

Media reports claim that 85 people were killed in the attack on an Iranian school building, and that the Iranian Defense Minister and the Revolutionary Guards Commander were also among the dead. News has also emerged of some casualties in the Gulf countries.
