Israel Launches 'Pre-emptive' Strike Against Iran; Airspace Closed

Tel Aviv. Israel has launched a 'pre-emptive' strike against Iran. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz announced a 'special and permanent state of emergency' across the country in a statement issued this morning.

According to Iranian media, sounds of three large explosions were heard in the main urban area of the capital, Tehran. Iran's Fars News Agency reported receiving reports that several missiles were fired in the Republic area of Tehran.

Iran's state-affiliated Fars News Agency is reporting that several new explosions were heard to the north and east of Tehran. 

The Associated Press news agency reported that the attack in Iran's capital occurred near the office of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz stated that Israel attacked pre-emptively to 'remove threats to the state'. Israel's airport authority announced that the airspace has been closed for all civilian flights and urged the public not to come to the airport.
