Former PM Dahal Stresses National Sovereignty and People's Self-Respect as NCP's Core Objectives

Kathmandu. The Chairman of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal stated that national sovereignty and the self-respect of the people are the main objectives of the party.

Speaking at a gathering and training program for leading cadres organized by the Nepal Communist Party, Lalitpur Constituency No. 1, on Friday, he said that the party is committed to resolving the existing crises in the country and building development and prosperity for the people.

Stating that the unity was formed among various 26 leftist and socialist groups with the commitment to build a 'New Nepal' by correcting past mistakes, former Prime Minister Dahal emphasized the need to strengthen communist forces amidst the current political situation in the country.

He mentioned that the party is witnessing an increase in public support due to the ideological perspectives and communist ideals it has embraced, and expressed confidence that the people will evaluate it favorably in the upcoming elections. He further stated that the party has formulated plans to create employment through entrepreneurship within the next five years, which could reduce poverty to 10 percent and achieve an economic growth rate above 10 percent for social and economic transformation.

Admitting that the standard of living for the people has not changed despite the change in the political system, he informed that the goal is to create 150,000 jobs annually by implementing socialism with Nepali characteristics.
