CPN Leader Prachanda Urges Against Underestimating Upcoming Federal Elections

Kathmandu. Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', Chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN), stated that the House of Representatives election scheduled for Falgun 21 should not be viewed as an ordinary election.

Addressing a program organized by the CPN Nuwakot-Kathmandu Contact Forum in Kathmandu on Friday, Prachanda mentioned that there are currently two types of extremism in the country, and the CPN has been established to fight against them.

'The CPN stands against both extremisms: the one that oppresses youth on Bhadra 23 and the one that causes destruction on the 24th,' Prachanda said, 'Therefore, no one should take this election lightly.'

Former Prime Minister Prachanda also highlighted the significance of the Falgun 21 election in saving democracy and the republic, and in protecting the rights of women, Dalits, Janajatis, Madhesis, Muslims, and others achieved through long struggle and sacrifice.

'This election is also emerging as a battle between those who attack rights and those who defend them,' Prachanda stated, 'Therefore, this election has come forward as a life-and-death struggle to protect the nation's sovereignty and the right to self-determination of the Nepali people.'

He claimed that the CPN was formed with the objective of resolving the situation arising from the Janajeevan (people's life) movement, recognizing the need to struggle against the two current extremes in the country.

During his address, Prachanda also asserted that if the election is conducted cleanly, impartially, and without rigging, no one can stop his party from becoming the number one party.

'The responsibility to defeat the two extremist ideologies rests on our shoulders. If anyone tries to rig the election anywhere, preparations must be made at every polling booth and every ward,' Prachanda remarked.
