Authorities Seize Vehicle and Goods Worth Over NPR 1 Million in Jhapa Smuggling Bust

Jhapa. Local administration has seized goods worth NPR 1,068,500 along with a vehicle being smuggled, evading customs duties.

Jhapa Police impounded the vehicle and smuggled materials during a check this morning on the Madanpur-Birtamod road section in Garamani, Birtamod Municipality-8.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Khagendra Bahadur Khadka of the District Police Office, Jhapa, various smuggled goods were found when a police team inspected the Suzuki Maruti van with registration number WB 74 W 1296 traveling from Bhadrapur towards Birtamod.

He stated that the vehicle was found loaded with auto parts, hardware materials, electronic goods, and various consumer items being smuggled without customs clearance.

Among the seized items are 52 types of goods including hydraulic jack sets, door machines, axle multilocks, paddle plates, diesel pipes, LED lights, fluorine gas, silencer bushes, and fuel gauges.

Police reported that the seized vehicle and goods have been sent to the Mechi Customs Office for necessary investigation and action. Further investigation into the incident is ongoing.
