Western Disturbance Affects Nepal's Weather, Light Rain and Snow Possible in Higher Regions

Kathmandu. The Department of Meteorology Forecasting has stated that a western low-pressure system is currently exerting a partial influence on the upper atmosphere of Nepal. Due to this influence, hilly and mountainous regions across the country are generally experiencing cloudy conditions. The Terai region remains largely clear.

This afternoon, some areas in the Terai region will experience fog in the morning. Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces' hilly and mountainous areas will generally be cloudy. The remaining hilly and mountainous regions will have partial cloud cover. The weather in the Terai region will remain mostly clear.

There is a possibility of light rain accompanied by thunderstorms in a few places in the hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, and in one or two places in the hilly and mountainous areas of the remaining provinces, along with snowfall.

Tonight, a small number of locations in the Terai region will experience haze. The mountainous regions of the country will generally be cloudy, the hilly regions will have partial cloud cover, and the Terai region will remain mostly clear. There is a possibility of light rain and snowfall in one or two places in the mountainous regions of Koshi, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces.

The Department has requested the public to take necessary precautions as light rain with thunderstorms and snowfall is possible in a few places in the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces, and in one or two places in the hilly and mountainous regions of the remaining provinces, which may partially affect daily life, agriculture, health, road, and air traffic.
