Nepal Government Grants Tax Exemptions for Second Phase of Kathmandu Ring Road Expansion Project

Kathmandu. The government has decided to grant exemptions on all types of taxes for the Chinese construction company undertaking the expansion of the second phase (Chakrapath's Kalanki–Basundhara section) of the Kathmandu Ring Road.

This decision paves the way for the advancement of this project, which is being built with the economic and technical assistance of the Chinese government.

Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal informed that the cabinet meeting held on Monday decided to exempt all customs and internal taxes applicable to the import of construction materials, equipment, and the purchase of construction materials.

The agreement for the expansion of this section was signed with China in 2075 BS. At that time, it was requested that structures built by encroaching upon the road boundary be removed, and although those were removed, the work could not proceed.
