Young Woman Found Dead in Nawalparasi Home with Apparent Injuries

Nawalparasi. A young woman has been found dead in her room in Shantinagar, Ward No. 2 of Gaindakot Municipality, Nawalparasi (Bardaghat-Sustapurba).

According to Police Superintendent Yubaraj Khadka of the District Police Office Nawalparasi (Bardaghat-Sustapurba), Babita Sapkota, approximately 24 years old, originally from Gulmi's Musikot Rural Municipality-9 and residing in a rented room in Gaindakot-2, was found dead in her room on Monday evening with visible injuries.

After her brother reported to the landlord that he could not contact the young woman, the Area Police Office Gaindakot was informed. Police Superintendent Khadka stated that upon opening the externally locked door in the presence of local representatives, the landlord, and relatives, Sapkota was found dead on the bed, covered by a quilt.

"During the preliminary investigation, there were sharp weapon cuts on the head, neck, and right wrist, as well as bruises on the face," said Police Superintendent Khadka. "A provincial-level investigation team and a special team with sniffer dogs have been mobilized for further investigation into the incident."

It is understood that the deceased Sapkota was married about three years ago and divorced a year ago. She had been living alone recently. Police Superintendent Khadka informed that she had not been in contact with her maternal family since returning to her rented room in Gaindakot from Gulmi on Falgun 10. Police stated that further details about the incident will be revealed after the investigation.
