Western Low-Pressure System Affects Nepal's Weather, Forecasts Light Rain and Snow in Some Areas

Kathmandu. The Department of Meteorology Forecasting has stated that a weak western low-pressure system is currently influencing Nepal. Due to this influence, hilly and mountainous regions across the country are generally experiencing cloud cover, while the weather remains mostly clear in the remaining areas.

This afternoon, fog will persist in some parts of the Terai region. The hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces, along with the mountainous regions of the remaining provinces, will generally have cloud cover. Partial cloud cover is expected in the remaining hilly areas. The weather in the Terai region will remain mostly clear. 

There is a possibility of light rain accompanied by thunderstorms in a few places in the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, and in one or two places in the hilly and mountainous regions of Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, along with snowfall.  

At night, mist will be present in a few locations in the Terai region. The hilly and mountainous regions of Gandaki province and the mountainous regions of the remaining provinces will generally have cloud cover. Partial cloud cover is expected in the remaining hilly areas. The weather in the Terai region will remain mostly clear. 

The department has indicated a possibility of light rain accompanied by snowfall in one or two locations in the high hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces.
