Ujyalo Nepal Party Chairman Ghising Stresses Hydropower as Key to National Prosperity

Phalgunanda. Kulman Ghising, Chairman of the Ujyalo Nepal Party, stated that hydropower can be the foundation for the nation's prosperity.

Speaking at the 'Ujyalo Era Declaration Assembly' organized by the Ujyalo Nepal Party in Phidim, Panchthar on Tuesday, he said that prosperity can be achieved by earning foreign currency and increasing domestic agriculture and production through the extensive development of hydropower.

Chairman Ghising mentioned that the country has started benefiting from selling electricity to India and Bangladesh as an example of this. Stating that Eastern Nepal is a reservoir for hydropower generation, he said that the face of the Eastern Hills can be transformed through the construction of the Tamor Reservoir Project.

Chairman Ghising said, "We must increase electricity production to establish and operate industries domestically and create an environment for greater utilization in the agricultural sector. Arrangements were made under my plan to end load-shedding and ensure local residents receive shares in hydropower projects, and now we will focus on further implementing those."

He also stated that his party has brought a clear framework through its manifesto for increasing employment in agriculture through minimum support prices for agricultural produce and protection of production. Party candidates Dr. Mahendra Lawati, Tek Bahadur Subba, and others addressed the program.
