Rabi Lamichhane Defends Deputy Speaker Indira Rana, Slams Old Political Parties in Jhapa Rally

Biratnagar. Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairman Rabi Lamichhane defended Deputy Speaker Indira Rana Magar and strongly attacked the old political parties and their leaders. Addressing an election rally organized in Birtamod, Jhapa on Tuesday morning, Lamichhane stated that those accusing Indira Rana Magar of human trafficking will incur sin.

‘I stand with a person who has no children of her own, yet hundreds and thousands of children in this country consider her their mother. Indira Rana is the mother who provides higher education and builds a bright future for the children of incarcerated parents,’ Lamichhane said. ‘Sin has befallen those who insult such a pure personality and accuse her of human trafficking. Let the world hear, Indira Rana Magar is a glorious name.’

During his address, Chairman Lamichhane raised serious questions hinting at former Speaker Devraj Ghimire. ‘I don't know with what face the former Speaker is asking for votes? When we raised our voice in parliament demanding an investigation into how Nepali people were being cheated on visit visas, he cut off my microphone,’ Lamichhane stated.

He recalled the incident where 21 RSP lawmakers were forcibly removed from parliament, alleging an attempt to suppress the voice of the people.

Referring to the loss of his own parliamentary seat, Lamichhane said, ‘The parliamentary regulations state that the seat of a person not in custody cannot be suspended, but his order was greater than the people's order. I was forcibly removed from the Federal Parliament by posting a notice within two hours, but they could not remove me from the hearts of the people.’

He also expressed regret for having participated in the process of electing the former Speaker and speaking in his favor, stating, ‘I want to express regret standing on this very ground that I participated in making a rubber stamp of some party the Speaker,’ he said.

Lamichhane urged the voters of Jhapa to stand in favor of Indira Rana Magar and the RSP in the upcoming elections. ‘I proudly stand in support of Indira Rana Magar. She is the mother of thousands; the people must give an answer this time to those who question her integrity,’ Lamichhane said. There was also a significant presence of other RSP leaders and workers at the rally in Birtamod.
