Nepali Congress Donates NPR 500,000 for National Football Captain Sabitra Bhandari's Treatment

The Nepali Congress has provided financial assistance of NPR 500,000 for the treatment of the national women's football team captain, Sabitra Bhandari, also known as 'Samba'.

Samba is preparing for complex surgery due to a severe injury to her MCL, stemming from the graft used in a previous ACL surgery on her knee. The Congress announced in a statement on Tuesday that the amount was provided with the objective of supporting her treatment expenses.

Nepali Congress Vice President Bishwa Prakash Sharma had telephonically spoken with the President of the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA), committing financial support from the party towards the player's treatment fund. It is reported that NPR 500,000 has since been deposited into ANFA's account at Global IME Bank Limited, fulfilling that commitment.

Congress President Gagan Kumar Thapa expressed high respect for Samba, who has made significant contributions to enhancing the nation's prestige, stating that everyone should stand by her at this time. He also wished her a speedy recovery on behalf of the party and personally.

The Nepali Congress reiterated its commitment to elevating sports beyond mere entertainment, making it a backbone for youth participation in national identity and nation-building.
