22 Charged in Rautahat Over Communal Dispute During Wedding Ceremony

Rautahat. A case has been filed against 22 individuals in Sabagadha of Gaur Municipality-6, Rautahat, on charges of inciting communal disharmony. Police arrested 22 people involved in vandalism that allegedly incited communal disharmony during a dispute between two communities at a wedding last Thursday. Police have registered a case against them under criminal mischief and arson and have begun an investigation.

The arrested individuals include Shubhnarayan Sah, Samir Miyan, Sheikh Alias, Sheikh Arman, Riteshkumar Ram, Ritik Kumar Yadav, Dipendra Chandrabanshi, Binodkumar Sah, Sheikh Rahamtullah, Sheikh Mainuddin, Abdul Ruman, Dipalal Paswan, Lalan Sah, Sheikh Nirale, Sheikh Sagir, Ahmad Raja, Sarfuddin Ansari, Afroz Mohammad, Deepak Kushwaha, Abdul Samir, Bihan Sah, and Mohammad Kaif, informed Deputy Superintendent of Police Vishnupradip Basnyal, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Rautahat.

Ward Chairman of Gaur-6, Abadhbihari Sah, and former Ward Chairman and Janmat Party District Coordinator Sheikh Jamshaid were released on the condition of being present when required, spokesperson Basnyal informed.

Mobile phones belonging to Sah and Jamshaid, who were released on personal guarantee, along with three other individuals, have been kept under police custody and will be sent to Kathmandu for examination, he stated.

Security agencies are continuing to identify and search for other individuals involved in the incident, and the administration has urged all parties to remain restrained to maintain peace and security. The local administration had imposed a curfew in this area from Saturday until this afternoon for maintaining law and order.

The situation in Sabagadha village has normalized after a harmony rally was held this morning.
