Curfew Lifted in Parsa, Sectional Prohibitory Order Imposed in Birgunj

Kathmandu. A curfew has been lifted and a prohibitory order imposed in Parsa. The curfew order was withdrawn effective from 4:30 PM on Monday, following a decision by the District Security Committee.

Since the situation has not fully normalized, taking the current circumstances into consideration, a prohibitory order has been issued for various areas within the Birgunj Metropolitan City from 6:00 PM today until 8:00 AM tomorrow, prohibiting any kind of assembly, meeting, procession, or demonstration. 

Those who violate the order will be taken into custody and action will be taken against them according to the law. 

It was also decided to bring those involved in escalating a dispute between two individuals to disrupt community relations into the legal framework, with religious leaders facilitating the process. 

A decision was made to take action under the Electronic Transactions Act against those who make hateful remarks regarding a personal incident and post unauthorized content about it on social media. 

It was decided that civil society and political parties, among others, would publish statements to maintain religious tolerance in the coming days.

Chief District Officer Bhola Dahal had issued the curfew order on Sunday evening following clashes between the Hindu and Muslim communities.
