Supreme Court Schedules Hearing on Medical Entrepreneur Durga Prasai's Habeas Corpus Petition

Kathmandu. A hearing date has been set for the habeas corpus petition filed by medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai. The case is scheduled for hearing on Monday before a joint bench of Supreme Court Justices Nahakul Subedi and Meghraj Pokharel.

Previously, a single bench of Supreme Court Justice Shrikanta Paudel had ordered that Prasai be presented before the court. An order was also issued to present the reason for arresting Prasai. Uma Prasai had filed the habeas corpus writ on behalf of Durga Prasai.

Prasai, who was previously arrested on Magh 23, was released on bail. At that time, the police had taken his statement based on his remarks regarding the election and then released him.

Police have repeatedly arrested Prasai on suspicion that he was preparing to launch a campaign to disrupt the elections scheduled for Falgun 21. Prasai, who was also arrested from Pokhara on Magh 5, was questioned by the police and then released.
