Election Commission Recommends Three-Day Public Holiday for Upcoming Polls

Kathmandu. The Election Commission has recommended that the government grant a three-day holiday for the elections scheduled for Falgun 21.

According to the Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari, a recommendation has been made to the government to grant a holiday on Falgun 20, 21, and 22 to ensure the participation of all voters in the election.  
'We have recommended a public holiday on Falgun 21, 22, and 23 to the government. Whether to approve it or not is up to the government,' Bhandari said.  

If the government approves the commission's recommendation, there will be a continuous seven-day public holiday. This is because the two-day Holi festival on Falgun 18 and 19, the election on 20 to 21, and International Women's Day on 23 and 24 (Saturday and Sunday respectively) will result in a continuous week-long holiday.
