Ilam –Police have arrested two persons in possession of pangolin hide and scales from Mangalbare Bazaar.
Santosh Magar, 28, of Deumai municipality – 4 and Kifurbu Bhote, 50, of Chepuwa in Sankhuwasabha and currently living at Tulsipath of Dharan – 15 were arrested during a checking on Sunday.
They were arrested during a checking of motorbike (Me 9 Pa 2909). Police seized 4.2 kilograms of hide and scales, District Police Office, Ilam's Superintendent of Police (SP) Madhav Prasad Shrestha said. Police have launched an investigation into the matter.
Eight years' imprisonment for rape
Meanwhile, District Court, Ilam has sentenced Surendra Sarki, 20, of Ilam municipality – 9 to eight years in prison for raping a 14 – year – old girl.
A bench led by Justice Indra Kumar Chongtenli handed out the sentence of eight years and a compensation of Rs 10,000 for the victim, Court's Registrar Jagadishwor Bhattarai said.
