Pokhara Metropolitan City Warns Illegal Structures Near Fewa Lake to Be Removed Within 15 Days

Pokhara. The Pokhara Metropolitan City has warned that illegal structures built on the banks of Fewa Lake must be removed within 15 days. The Metropolis issued a public notice giving the ultimatum to remove the structures.

The Metropolis has directed that no illegal structures be built within the standard limit following the completion of the lake's demarcation process in the course of implementing the Supreme Court's verdict. Structures are being built overnight within the 65-meter standard limit of the lake. Bulldozers were used on illegal structures some time ago.

'Structures built before the demarcation will be handled according to the Supreme Court's order, and the Metropolis has repeatedly urged not to build or allow new structures within 65 meters from the highest point of the lake,' the notice stated. 'However, disregarding this, all unauthorized structures built after the demarcation are hereby notified to the concerned builders to remove them within 15 (fifteen) days from the date of publication of this notice.'

The Metropolis has warned that if the structures are not removed within the stipulated time, the Metropolitan City will remove them according to the law. The Metropolis stated that the expenses incurred during the removal will be recovered from the concerned individual or organization. The process related to the classification of land falling within the 65-meter zone is in its final stage.
