Few Candidates in Dhanusha Open Bank Accounts for Election Spending Ahead of Polls

Janakpurdham. Out of 158 candidates who registered nominations for the House of Representatives election scheduled for the upcoming 21st of Falgun in Dhanusha district, only 43 have so far obtained recommendations from the District Election Office to open bank accounts.

The Election Commission has directed candidates to conduct their election expenditures through banks. According to the Commission's regulations, it is mandatory to open a separate bank account when receiving financial assistance or making expenditures exceeding 25,000 rupees. The Commission has clarified that expenditures made without opening a bank account will not be recognized.

While 45 candidates registered nominations in Dhanusha Constituency No. 3, 42 in Constituency No. 1, 37 in Constituency No. 4, and 34 in Constituency No. 2, only 43 of them have taken recommendations to open bank accounts so far, informed Krishna Kumar Raut, Information Officer at the District Election Office, Dhanusha.

The failure of the majority of candidates to open bank accounts as the election approaches may raise questions regarding expenditure management and transparency.
