Venezuelan Acting President's Envoy Meets with US Military Operations Chief Amid Tensions

Caracas. It has been reported that talks were held between Venezuela's Acting President Delcy Rodriguez and the head of US military operations.

Rodriguez's government and the US Southern Command announced separate visits via social media. Rodriguez's press office stated that Marine General Donovan met with Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino Lopez and Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello.

This meeting occurred weeks after the US military apprehended then-President Nicolas Maduro in a surprise raid in Caracas and brought him to the US to face charges of drug trafficking.

During the meeting, both countries agreed to work on developing a bilateral cooperation agenda to combat illegal drug trafficking, terrorism, and migration, according to Rodriguez's press office via social media platform X. 

The meeting emphasized that diplomacy must be the mechanism to resolve differences and address issues of interest to all parties, as well as bilateral and regional interests.
