Sudurpashchim Chief Minister Shah Stresses Advanced Democracy on National Democracy Day

Kailali. Sudurpashchim Province Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah, extending best wishes on the occasion of National Democracy Day, stated that the only alternative to democracy is an advanced democracy. In a message issued today, he expressed confidence that Democracy Day would inspire all Nepalis to move forward together toward the common goals of lasting peace, good governance, and prosperity.

Chief Minister Shah mentioned that political stability is indispensable for the protection of the constitution and the strengthening of democracy.

He asserted that in the current political situation of the country, there can be no better alternative than elections to maintain political stability. He paid high respects to all the warriors and martyrs who contributed to the movements held in various periods for Nepal's sovereignty, territorial integrity, national interest, and self-respect. Shah stated that the historical significance of this day, which overthrew 104 years of autocratic rule to bring about the rule of the people, will always remain intact.

Mentioning that the 2007 revolution marked the beginning of the modern era in Nepal, Chief Minister Shah said that bringing democratic values and norms to the grassroots level is the main responsibility today. Stating that the country achieved milestones such as federalism and a republic based on the foundation of democracy, he emphasized that all sides must be responsible for protecting these achievements. He added that this day, celebrated every year on Falgun 7, once again reminds us of the importance of citizen supremacy in Nepali politics.
