Karnali Chief Minister States 2007 Revolution is Foundation of Current Constitution

Surkhet. Karnali Chief Minister Yamalal Kandel has stated that the revolution of Vikram Sambat 2007 BS is a significant foundation for the creation of the current constitution. While issuing a congratulatory message on the occasion of National Democracy Day, 2082 BS today, he mentioned that the current constitution was built on the foundation of the 2007 revolution.

‘Today is a glorious day in Nepal's history because the principle that the source of state power is only the people and that the sovereignty of the country must be vested in the people was established through the struggle of the people and the sacrifice of martyrs,’ he said. ‘I believe that this day will make the importance of civil rights permanent and inspire all of us to move forward in the direction of adopting democratic values and norms and fulfilling the expectations of the citizens.’

Kandel also mentioned that democracy is not just a system of governance but also the basis for people's rights, freedom of expression, rule of law, and social justice.

He stated that past struggles have led to the Federal Democratic Republic. ‘Now our responsibility is to institutionalize the achievements made and move forward resolutely in the direction of good governance, transparency, development, and prosperity,’ he said.
