Lumbini Chief Minister Stresses Good Governance and Rule of Law for Protecting Democracy

Butwal. Lumbini Province Chief Minister Chetanarayan Acharya stated that the protection of democracy is possible through the effective implementation of good governance, transparency, accountability, and the rule of law, alongside the political structure. Issuing a congratulatory message on the occasion of National Democracy Day, 2082, he emphasized the need to connect democracy with public life and ensure social justice, equal opportunity, and economic transformation.

He mentioned that the democratic foundation established with the end of the autocratic Rana regime on Falgun 7, 2007 BS, laid the groundwork for today's federal democratic republic. He stated that this historic achievement has made Nepali society aware of rights, politically conscious, and committed to change.

Chief Minister Acharya expressed heartfelt tribute to the immortal martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the establishment of democracy. He also paid respect to the pioneers and democracy-loving citizens who played a leading role in various phases of the movement.

He noted that this day continuously sends the message that injustice, autocracy, and discrimination can be defeated if there is unity and resolve among the people. It is his view that the significance of democracy can only be established if democratic culture, tolerance, and mutual respect are put into practice. He stated that National Democracy Day provides an opportunity to recommit to democratic values and principles.
