Russia Urges US to Avoid Military Blockade Against Cuba

Moscow. Russia has urged the United States not to impose a military blockade on Cuba. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov made this suggestion on Wednesday during a meeting with his Cuban counterpart, Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla.

Foreign Minister Lavrov stated, "Joining the vast majority of the international community, we urge the United States to act with common sense, take a responsible stance, and abandon plans for a naval blockade."

Lavrov also said that Moscow rejects accusations that cooperation with Cuba is directed against Washington, emphasizing that all disputes between Washington and Havana must be resolved through dialogue.

"We will continue to support the maintenance of the sovereignty and security of Cuba and the Cuban people," he said.

He added, "Russia condemns US legislation targeting Cuba, which is based on the false claim that Cuba poses a threat to the United States."
