Pakistan Secures Super 8 Spot in T20 World Cup After Dominating Namibia

New Delhi. Pakistan has secured a place in the Super 8 stage of the T20 World Cup under Group A after defeating Namibia. On Wednesday, Namibia, chasing a massive target of 200 runs set by Pakistan, could only manage 97 runs in 17.3 overs. 

Opener Laura Wolvaardt was the top scorer for the team, making 23 runs. She hit 3 fours and 1 six off 22 balls. Alexandra Boussing Volschenk scored 20 runs off 20 balls. Other batters failed to score in double digits. 

Usman Tariq bowled lethally to dismiss Namibia cheaply. He conceded only 16 runs, including 1 maiden over, in 3.3 overs, taking 4 wickets. Shadab Khan took 3 wickets for 19 runs in 4 overs. Salman Mirza and Mohammad Nawaz took 1 wicket each. 

Earlier, after winning the toss and electing to bat in Colombo, the team scored 199 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Opener Sahibzada Farhan was the hero for the team. He played a magnificent innings of 100 runs off just 58 balls. During this innings, he hit 11 fours and 4 sixes. 

Captain Salman Agha scored 38 runs off 23 balls. He hit 3 fours and 2 sixes. Shadab Khan remained not out on 36 runs off 22 balls. He struck 1 four and 3 sixes. For Namibia, Jack Brassell took 2 wickets for 48 runs in 4 overs. Gerald Erasmus took one wicket. 

This was a 'do or die' match for Pakistan. If Namibia had won the match, Pakistan would have been eliminated from the tournament, and the USA team would have advanced to the Super-8. However, with the victory, Pakistan secured 6 points with 3 wins and 1 loss to confirm their place in the Super 8. The team had previously defeated the Netherlands and the USA but suffered a defeat against India. 

On the other hand, Namibia lost all four of its matches. The team was previously defeated by the Netherlands, India, and the USA.
