Former Rastriya Swatantra Party Leader Alleges Party's Policies Deteriorated Due to Wrong Leadership

Kathmandu. Mamata Sharma, who resigned from the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), stated that the RSP's policies have been ruined due to wrong leadership. Speaking at a pledge assembly organized by the Nepali Congress in Tirahutiya, Janakpur, Sharma claimed that the RSP's slogan has also changed because of the flawed leadership.

‘A party's policy deteriorates due to wrong leadership. That is exactly what has happened in the RSP now,’ Sharma said. ‘The RSP's slogan has changed. The RSP's slogan used to be 'Elect the knowledgeable,' 'Now it's the youth's turn,' 'Now it's the new one's turn,' but this slogan has changed to 'Elect the tainted,' 'Elect those facing stacks of cases.'’

She asserted that after the Nepali Congress held a special general convention and Gagan Thapa became the president, the Congress became the 'new RSP,' and the RSP became the 'old Nepali Congress.' Sharma praised Thapa's courage to demand a change in leadership when the president of an 80-year-old party was attacked and the party office was set on fire.

Sharma, the founding president of the Rastriya Swatantra Party for Madhes Province, had resigned on Tuesday, relinquishing even her ordinary membership from the RSP.
