Madhesh Province Chief Minister Pledges Increased Investment for Maithili Language and Literature Development

Janakpur. Chief Minister of Madhesh Province, Krishna Prasad Yadav, stated that the provincial government will invest further in the development of the Maithili language and literature in the coming days.

‘Janakpurdham Literature, Art, and International Drama Festival 2082’ was inaugurated in Janakpurdham on Tuesday, during which he mentioned that festivals like this are important for the development of Maithili language, literature, and culture. He emphasized the need to move forward towards making Maithili, the most spoken language in Madhesh Province, the working language.

The festival has begun with the organization by the Maithili Development Fund, jointly organized by the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Madhesh Province Government, Janakpurdham Metropolitan City, and Rajarshi Janak University.

Minister of Education and Culture of Madhesh Province, Rani Sharma Tiwari, stated that festivals like this are important for the development of Maithili language, literature, and art.

Mayor of Janakpurdham Metropolitan City, Manoj Kumar Sah, stated that the Metropolitan City is continuously working for the development of Maithili language, literature, and culture.

During the program, Minister of Land Management, Agriculture, and Cooperatives Shyam Prasad Patel, Provincial Assembly Member Ramsaroj Yadav, senior litterateur Dr. Rajendra Bimal, and other speakers shared their views. Scholars and artists who have made significant contributions to the Maithili language, literature, culture, as well as economic and social sectors from Nepal and India are participating in the four-day International Drama Festival. The festival will run until Falgun 8.
