Police to Investigate Medical Entrepreneur Durga Prasai for Offenses Against Public Peace

Kathmandu. Police are set to investigate medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai for offenses against public peace. Durga Prasai, the coordinator of the Campaign to Save the Nation, Nationality, Religion, Culture, and Citizens, was arrested from Bhaktapur on Monday evening.

SP Pawan Bhattarai of the Kathmandu District Police Range told Ratopati that Prasai will be investigated under the offense against public peace after obtaining a remand order from the District Administration Office.

Prasai has been vocal about his threats to enforce an indefinite shutdown and obstruct elections if the government fails to fulfill its agreement with him. SP Bhattarai stated that Prasai will also be investigated for spreading false rumors.

Prasai was previously arrested on Magh 23 and released on bail. At that time, the police cyber bureau took his statement based on his remarks regarding the elections as the 'basis' for investigation before releasing him. Prasai was also arrested in Pokhara on Magh 5 and subsequently released.
