Nepal Kabaddi League Season Two Set to Kick Off on Jestha 22

Kathmandu. The second season of the Nepal Kabaddi League (NKL) is scheduled to begin on Jestha 22. Amit Kumar Begani, head of NKL Astronix Management, announced this on Tuesday during a press conference held at the National Sports Council (NSC) covered hall in Tripureshwor.

He stated, "Last year's first edition was better than imagined. It has initiated professionalism in Nepali kabaddi. I want to express our commitment to operating the second season in an even better and more excellent manner than before."

For the second season, 512 Nepali players and over 100 foreign players from 15 countries have registered. Organizers indicated that this number, nearly double that of last year, signals that the second season will be grand.

Chief Begani also mentioned that experienced Indian Pro Kabaddi League players, along with top players from countries like Iran, Korea, and Poland, are ready to come to Nepal to play in the NKL. Vikas Agrawal, CEO of Astronix Management, informed that the NKL will operate on a budget of NPR 10 crore.

Astronix Management has also signed a contract with Kantipur Max TV HD as the broadcast partner for NKL Season 2. The agreement was signed by Astronix CEO Agrawal and Kantipur Television's Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) Anupam Adhikari. According to the agreement, the matches of NKL Season 2 will be broadcast live on Kantipur Max TV HD.

In the first season, six teams from six cities—Biratnagar Bandits, Janakpur Knights, Kathmandu Mavericks, Pokhara Lakers, Himalayan Raiders (Butwal), and Dhangadhi Wildcats—competed. Janakpur became the NKL champion by defeating Kathmandu 43-41 in the final.
