Excavator Operator Killed in Landslide During Construction in Sankhuwasabha

Sankhuwasabha. An excavator operator died today after being hit by falling rocks while digging a road for the under-construction Chhujung Khola Hydropower Project in Sano Yakrkha, Bhotkhola Rural Municipality-2, here.

The excavator operator, 38-year-old Devraj Rai from Diding, Chichila Rural Municipality-3, died on the spot, informed District Police Office Information Officer and Police Inspector Dhan Bahadur Rajbanshi. Operator Rai was employed by Sangrila Energy Company.

Immediately after receiving information about the incident, a police team led by Police Inspector Birendra Kumar Yadav from the Hedingana Area Police Office reached the scene. His body was brought to the District Hospital, Khandbari today for post-mortem examination. The Sankhuwasabha District Police Office stated that further investigation into the incident is underway.

Similarly, a house was completely destroyed in a fire in Bhirkuna, Panchkhapan Municipality-2. Police reported that Sirjana Tamang's house was gutted by a sudden fire that started from a cooking stove this morning.

Police stated that the fire caused damage estimated at NPR 200,000, destroying food grains, clothing, and utensils inside Tamang's house.
