Director Priyadarshan Pledges Support to Actor Rajpal Yadav Jailed Over Bounced Cheque Case

Mumbai. Bollywood's renowned director Priyadarshan has announced his support for actor Rajpal Yadav, who is currently incarcerated in Tihar Jail in connection with a bounced cheque case. He has convinced producers to set Rajpal's remuneration higher than usual for his upcoming film.

According to Priyadarshan, this step has been taken to rescue and assist Rajpal, who is facing financial distress. In an interview with Mid-Day, Priyadarshan stated that he has known Rajpal for 20 years and that he is a good person.

Expressing sympathy for Rajpal's situation, he said, 'I urged the producers of Jubilee Films to pay Rajpal more than the usual amount considering his situation, and they have agreed.' Rajpal will be seen playing a villain for the first time in Priyadarshan's upcoming film.

Priyadarshan claims that Rajpal faced this problem due to a lack of financial knowledge, but his intentions were not malicious. After being convicted in the bounced cheque case, Rajpal surrendered to Delhi's Tihar Jail on February 5.

He had taken a loan of 5 crore rupees in 2010 to make the film 'Ata Pata Laapata,' and a case was filed when he failed to repay the amount on time. However, his lawyer informed the court that he has already repaid more than 3 crore rupees. Nevertheless, the court severely reprimanded him for failing to adhere to the agreement despite being given multiple opportunities.

Before going to jail, Rajpal had stated that he did not have money. Seeing his condition, actor Sonu Sood had appealed to industry artists for help.

Following this, it is reported that celebrities like Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn, and David Dhawan provided him with financial assistance. A hearing on his bail application is scheduled again in court today, February 16.
