Israeli Airstrikes in Gaza Kill 11 Palestinians Amid Ceasefire Violations

Gaza. Eleven Palestinians were killed in Israeli airstrikes in Gaza on Sunday morning. According to the Palestinian Red Crescent, six people died in an attack on a camp in northern Gaza, and five others lost their lives in another attack in the southern region.

The Israeli army claimed that the attacks were in response to Hamas violating the ceasefire agreement. Although the ceasefire agreement has been in effect since October 10, both Israel and Hamas have continuously accused each other of violating the agreement.

According to the Hamas-run Gaza Ministry of Health, at least 600 people have died since the ceasefire began. This violence erupted as preparations were underway for the implementation of the second phase of the ceasefire agreement, which was mediated by the United States.

US President Donald Trump recently announced a new body called the 'Board of Peace,' which the United Nations Security Council has tasked with responsibility for Gaza border security and the disarmament of Hamas.

The board's first meeting, scheduled for February 19 in Washington, will also lead the efforts for establishing a new Palestinian government in Gaza and post-war reconstruction. According to Trump, member nations of the board have pledged $5 billion in aid for Gaza's reconstruction.

Hamas, however, maintains its stance of not laying down arms until an independent Palestinian state is established. On the other hand, Indonesia, a member nation of the Board of Peace, has already announced it will send 8,000 troops to Gaza to ensure the success of the second phase of the ceasefire.

In this war, which began with Hamas's attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, more than 71,800 people have lost their lives in Gaza so far.
