Woman Flees With Brother-in-Law After Previously Eloping With Fiancé

New Delhi. The case of a woman who fled with her own 'would-be son-in-law' about a year ago, shocking her husband and daughter, is now gaining attention after she allegedly absconded with another brother-in-law.

In April 2025, Sapna Devi, a resident of Aligarh in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, betrayed her husband and daughter. Sapna married the man (the would-be son-in-law) whom her daughter was set to marry, after suddenly fleeing with him.

According to Indian media, Sapna's daughter was engaged to a young man named Rahul. While wedding preparations were underway, Rahul and Sapna fled. After the family filed a complaint, the police located them, but since both stated they wanted to marry and live together, the family disowned Sapna.

It is now reported that Sapna has left her second husband, Rahul, and chosen her own sister's husband (sister's husband/brother-in-law). Rahul has filed a complaint with the police regarding this matter.

Rahul alleges that Sapna fled with his sister's husband, taking approximately two lakh rupees she earned from her clothing business.
