Fugitive Convicted of Arson and Homicide Arrested After 15 Years on the Run

Nawalparasi. Police have arrested a man who had been absconding for 15 years after being convicted by the court in an arson and homicide case.

Dal Bahadur Chokhyal, 55, of Somnath Tole, Sunwal Municipality-1, who was sentenced to 18 years in prison by the Nawalparasi District Court in 2067 BS, was arrested by the police on Magh 27.

Chokhyal, who had been absconding since the verdict issued by the Nawalparasi District Court on Mangsir 9, 2067 BS, was found at his own home during a search conducted by a special team deployed from the Area Police Office, Sunwal. The arrested Chokhyal was presented before the Nawalparasi District Court on Wednesday.

Following the court's order, he has been sent to prison to serve his sentence, informed District Police Office Nawalparasi (West) Information Officer and Deputy Superintendent of Police, Birendra Dutta Pant.
