Manchester United Fan's 500-Day Haircut Vow Thwarted by Draw

Manchester. A dedicated fan's dream of cutting his hair after 500 days was dashed as Manchester United's streak of five consecutive wins fell short.

29-year-old Frank Elett had made an unusual vow not to cut his hair until the club won five consecutive matches in October 2024. However, due to United's declining performance, his wait has become much longer than anticipated, resulting in his hair growing quite shaggy.

Elett's daily video updates via 'The United Strand' have been watched by millions. He had planned to donate his long hair to 'The Princess Trust' to make wigs for children suffering from cancer. When Elett started this challenge, the team was under the command of Erik ten Hag. Even Ruben Amorim, who came after his departure, could not lead the team to more than three consecutive wins.

Recently, after Michael Carrick took over the coaching responsibilities, United registered four consecutive wins, defeating strong teams like Manchester City, Arsenal, Fulham, and Tottenham. If United had won the match against West Ham United on Tuesday, Elett would have been able to cut his hair after 500 days.

However, Elett's dream was ruined when the competitive match at the London Stadium ended in a 1-1 draw. Benjamin Sesko saved United from defeat by scoring in the final moments of the game, but he could not secure a win.

United's former midfielder and current coach, Carrick, stated that he learned about Elett's interesting challenge through his children. He mentioned that while this fact excited him, he clarified that it would have no role in the professional strategy of the game.
