Egypt and Iran Foreign Ministers Discuss Ongoing US-Iran Nuclear Talks Over Phone

Kathmandu. Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi held a telephone conversation on Monday. It was reported that the ongoing Iran-US nuclear talks were discussed in detail during the conversation.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry clarified that Egypt fully supports the diplomatic efforts being made to advance the negotiation process and reduce regional tensions. He emphasized that diplomatic and political dialogue is the most effective way to resolve issues in the current sensitive situation.

Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi praised the role played by Egypt in promoting regional stability and understanding, pointing out the need to continue mutual dialogue and cooperation.

According to reports, the first indirect talks between Iran and the US were previously held in Muscat, Oman. While those talks showed some progress towards a diplomatic solution, it was noted that the US side indicated that military options would remain open if diplomatic efforts fail. Iranian officials, however, warned that such a situation could further escalate regional conflict.
