Nepali Congress President Gagan Thapa Vows to Unite All Communities and Lead the Nation

Siraha. Nepali Congress President Gagan Kumar Thapa has stated that the Congress will fulfill its responsibility to manage the country by encompassing all ideologies and communities. Addressing a gathering of cadres in Lahan, Siraha on Tuesday, he mentioned that in the current challenging situation, a responsible force like the Congress is necessary to give the country the right direction.

During his address, he claimed that Congress is not just a political party but a charioteer in times of crisis. "We have come with a new vision and resolve," said President Thapa, "Only the Congress has the capacity to unite everyone without spreading any agitation, conflict, or hatred, and to improve the country." Therefore, he also called for voting for Congress candidates in the upcoming elections.

Recalling BP Koirala's policy of reconciliation and the role Congress played in bringing the Maoists into the peace process, he said, "Whether it was BP risking his life to save the country in 2033 BS or bringing the Maoists from armed conflict into peaceful politics, that was the national character of the Congress. Today again, there is a need for a force to manage the country similarly." He clarified that Congress would never engage in politics of revenge.

Admitting that there is extreme distrust among citizens towards state institutions, General Secretary Thapa emphasized that the main agenda now must be ending corruption. "Citizens are angry because they see corruption at the root of every problem," he said. "If leaders have clean intentions and the right policies, corruption will be eradicated from Nepal, and the country will move forward. Therefore, let us try to understand what the citizens are trying to say, instead of thinking about ourselves. Then we can instill hope in the people."
