Unified Communist Party Unveils Election Manifesto Ahead of February 21 Polls

Kathmandu. The CPN, formed by the unification of 22 communist and socialist factions, has publicly released its election manifesto for the House of Representatives elections scheduled for February 21.

Contesting the elections under the 'Star' election symbol, the party presented its roadmap for building an independent and prosperous Nepal with the central slogan, 'Good Governance and Employment, Preparation for Socialism.' The manifesto prioritizes political stability, a new phase of economic reform, and prosperity coupled with social justice as its main pillars.

The party has pledged to reform the governance structure by reducing the size of the Council of Ministers, making the electoral system less expensive, and adopting a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption by forming a high-level asset investigation commission.

In the economic sector, the goal is to achieve double-digit economic growth and create 500,000 jobs annually within the next five years. The party has given special priority to declaring an 'Agriculture Investment Decade' for the modernization of the agricultural sector, resolving the issue of landless squatters, and ensuring easy access to health and education for citizens.

Furthermore, the manifesto includes commitments to provide equal rights to women in ancestral property, special privileges for the Dalit community, and arrangements for voting rights for Nepalis working abroad. Regarding foreign policy, the party emphasized upholding national interests and sovereignty while adhering to non-aligned diplomacy.
