Qatari Delegation Meets Nepal Rastra Bank Governor to Discuss Investment Opportunities

A Qatari delegation, visiting Nepal at the invitation of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), held a meeting with the Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), Prof. Dr. Bishwa Nath Poudyal. The meeting, held on Tuesday, involved an in-depth discussion regarding existing legal frameworks, the banking system, and potential investment opportunities to attract Qatari investment to Nepal.

The team, led by Mohad Ahmed M.A. Al Obaideli, a board member of the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry, stated that Qatari investors are prepared for long-term investments provided Nepal maintains stable policies and a clear legal structure. The Ambassador of Qatar to Nepal, Mishel bin Mohammed Ali Al Ansari, and FNCCI President Chandra Prasad Dhakal also participated in the meeting.

During the discussion, Governor Poudyal informed the delegation that Nepal is continuously reforming its policies, prioritizing foreign investment. He clarified the necessary banking facilitation and policy arrangements required for Qatari investors. The Qatari team expressed particular interest in collaboration in the sectors of banking, tourism, information technology, and human resource development.

FNCCI President Chandra Prasad Dhakal mentioned that there are concrete possibilities for bringing Qatari investment into Nepal and stated that the Federation is committed to facilitating this through dialogue between the private sector and the government, as well as institutional mechanisms. The Qatari delegation opined that significant capital could flow into Nepal if there is a clear 'roadmap' for investment.
