Netherlands Defeats Namibia by Seven Wickets in T20 World Cup Group A Clash

New Delhi. In a Group A match of the T20 World Cup, the Netherlands defeated Namibia by 7 wickets. The Netherlands chased down the target of 157 set by Namibia with just 12 balls remaining, losing only 3 wickets.

With this victory, the team has kept its hopes of reaching the Super 8 stage alive. The team had lost its first match against Pakistan.

Bas de Leede was the hero for the winning team, playing a magnificent innings of 72 runs off just 48 balls. He hit 5 fours and 4 sixes. Similarly, Colin Ackermann contributed 32 runs, hitting 1 six.

Michael Levitt scored 28, and captain Scott Edwards added 18 runs. Bernard Scholtz, Ruben Trumpelmann, and Jan Nicol Loftie-Een took 1 wicket each for Namibia.

Earlier, after losing the toss and electing to bat first, Namibia scored 58 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

Jan Nicol Loftie-Een was the top scorer for the team, contributing 42 runs. He faced 38 balls and hit 1 four and 2 sixes.

Opener Jan Frylinck supported him by scoring 30 runs off 26 balls. The two shared a half-century partnership for the second wicket.

Likewise, JJ Smit scored 22 runs with the help of 1 four and 2 sixes off 15 balls. Captain Gerhard Erasmus contributed 18 runs, hitting 2 fours and 1 six.
