Indian Entrepreneur Quits $65,000 Job to Sell Momos, Builds Multi-State Business Empire

Gurugram. The success story of young Indian entrepreneur Saket Saurabh is currently going viral on social media. Saket, who gave up an attractive job offering an annual salary of 52 lakh Indian Rupees to start selling momos on the street, has surprised everyone.

He quit his job in 2023 with the dream of starting his own venture and established the brand 'The Momo Mafia', which has now expanded to seven states in India.

Saket's journey began with a small cart in Gurugram's Infotech area. Initially, while running a cafe with his elder sister and brother-in-law, he started selling momos as an experiment. Due to the high-quality taste, people started flocking, and his single cart began generating daily sales of 10 to 12 thousand Indian Rupees.

When office-going customers showed interest in his work, he got the idea to move to a franchise model. Today, he operates more than 40 carts, 20 small outlets, and two large restaurants.

Facing administrative hassles and weather challenges while trading on the roadside, Saket refined his business. Instead of carts, he adopted the 'Cart Service Restaurant' model by opening small permanent outlets.

His hard work has also led to significant financial growth. His company, which earned 16 lakh Indian Rupees in the first year, achieved a turnover of 2.2 crore Indian Rupees in the fiscal year 2023-24. This year, he aims for a business turnover of 3 crore Indian Rupees.

Saket also offered important advice to new entrepreneurs through his video, which has been viewed over 300,000 times on Instagram. He says, 'If you truly want to build a big brand, start with an organized outlet rather than limiting yourself to just a roadside stall.'

It is his experience that while a stall might earn a few lakhs, an outlet is essential to establish a large business empire. His courage to leave a 50 lakh job has not only made him a millionaire today but has also made him a source of inspiration for many.
