75 Licensed Firearms Deposited in Banke Ahead of Elections

Nepalgunj. Seventy-five licensed firearms have been deposited with the police in Banke district. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Deepak Patali of the District Police Office, Banke, informed that these firearms were deposited today at the area police offices, police posts, and other locations under police jurisdiction.

The District Administration Office, Banke, had requested the submission of licensed firearms targeting security for the upcoming House of Representatives election scheduled for Falgun 21. The deposited firearms include muzzle-loading guns and bar-barrels.

Meanwhile, preparations are underway to deploy voter education teams to villages across Banke. For the House of Representatives election of 2082, contact persons at the officer level have been designated in the eight local levels within the district to facilitate the deployment of voter education teams to the villages.

Banke's Election Officer, Tek Bahadur Shahi, informed that correspondence has been sent to mobilize volunteers at the local level for voter education, stating that 81 volunteers will be mobilized in 81 wards across the district for voter education.

“The program has been received from the Election Commission; some technical work remains, after which we will start the voter education program,” he said. According to Election Officer Shahi, contact persons will be trained in a few days for voter education, and the contact persons will subsequently train the volunteers in the wards of the local levels, aiming to take voter education to every village and neighborhood.

The District Election Office, Banke, stated that Banke, which has three constituencies, has a total voter count of 350,371 people. The district has 139 polling centers and 400 polling stations.
