30 MW Mardi Hydropower Project to be Constructed Between Manang and Lamjung Districts

Kathmandu. A 30 MW capacity Mardi Hydropower Project is set to be constructed between Nasong Rural Municipality of Manang District and Marsyangdi Rural Municipality of Lamjung District. As part of the project development process, the Ministry of Forests and Environment has initiated the preparation of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report.

Mardi Khola Hydropower Company Pvt. Ltd. is the proponent of the project. The project is of the run-of-the-river type. It is estimated that the project will generate an average of 173.44 GWh of energy annually. The electricity generated from the project will be transmitted to the national grid by connecting it to the 220 kV Manang Hub in Dharapani via a 10-kilometer long 132 kV transmission line.

The total cost of the project will be NPR 3.9097 billion. Based on this, the cost per megawatt will be NPR 130.3 million. The Ministry of Forests and Environment has requested all concerned stakeholders to provide information regarding the potential environmental impacts that may arise due to the project.
