Motorable Bridge Completed Six Months Ahead of Schedule in Gorkha, Nepal

GORKHA. The construction of the Chukti Khola motorable bridge in Seragau, Palungtar Municipality-9, Gorkha, has been completed in just six months. The bridge construction, undertaken by Amrit Construction of Gorkha, which took charge last Ashar, was finished by the end of Poush this year.

Mohan Shrestha, an engineer at the Infrastructure Development Office, stated that the contract for the bridge construction was signed at a cost of approximately NPR 34.142 million. According to him, the office had contracted the construction company to complete the work within 18 months.

“The construction company completed the work within six months of signing the contract,” he said.

The bridge has a length of 20 meters and a width of 8.40 meters. With the completion of the Chukti Khola bridge connecting Lower Sera and Upper Sera of Palungtar, the local residents there have breathed a sigh of relief. Previously, due to the lack of a concrete bridge, the residents of Sera were forced to use a temporary wooden bridge for commuting.

Ward Chairman of Palungtar Municipality-9, Bhojraj Pandey, mentioned that students faced difficulties reaching school during the monsoon season. “The tendency to leave development projects assigned in the district unfinished persists. Construction companies that complete work ahead of schedule should be encouraged,” he said. With the construction of the motorable bridge, transportation and the hauling of agricultural materials will also become easier.
